Creator Terms
The rules for selling your own courses on CourseForge, in plain words. By starting a school you agree to them, along with the general CourseForge Terms.
You are the seller
Your buyers pay your school directly, through your own Stripe account. You are the seller, so the sale is between you and your buyer.
- You set your prices, and you handle your own refunds, receipts and sales taxes.
- Stripe's own terms and processing fees apply to your Stripe account on every plan.
- You must connect a Stripe account that is yours before you can take paid sales.
Plans and fees
Every plan includes your own school, your own courses, and payments straight to your Stripe account.
- Free: no monthly charge. CourseForge keeps 10% of each sale, taken automatically when the sale is made.
- Creator: $39 a month. CourseForge takes no share of your sales.
- Pro: $79 a month. CourseForge takes no share of your sales.
- Each plan has room for a set number of courses, students and files (Free: 1 course, 50 students, 2 GB; Creator: 10 courses, 1,000 students, 50 GB; Pro: Unlimited courses and students, 250 GB). Reaching a limit never deletes or hides anything: only new additions wait until you move up a plan.
- When you refund a sale, or lose a payment dispute, CourseForge returns its share of that sale.
- Paid plans renew monthly until you cancel. You can change plans or cancel any time from Settings → Plan & Billing. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep your plan until the end of the month you paid for.
- If a paid plan ends, or a payment can't be collected, your school moves to Free. Everything keeps working, and the 10% applies again until you're back on a paid plan.
Your courses are yours
You keep ownership of everything you upload or create in your school.
- You may only upload material you own or have permission to use: text, video, audio, images, music and documents.
- You let CourseForge store, copy, back up and show your material, only so we can run your school and deliver it to your learners.
- The CourseForge course library is not part of the creator plans and can't be sold or shared from a creator school.
- If we make course material for you, that work is agreed separately for each project, and nothing we make goes live until you approve it.
What isn't allowed
CourseForge may remove material, or pause a school, that breaks these rules.
- Anything illegal, or material that copies someone else's work without permission.
- False or misleading promises, including health, money and legal claims you can't stand behind.
- Adult content, hate, harassment, threats, or anything meant to harm people.
- Spam, malware, or collecting people's details under false pretences.
- Reselling courses you didn't make, or that you don't have the rights to sell.
Copyright complaints
If you believe a school on CourseForge is using your work without permission, tell us through the support page.
- Include your name and contact details, the work you own, the page where it appears, and a statement that you believe the use isn't allowed.
- We may take the material down while we look into it, and we'll tell the school's owner.
- A school owner who believes the material was removed by mistake can reply with their side through the support page.
- Schools that repeatedly break copyright are closed.
Your learners
You're responsible for your learners' experience and for how you use their information.
- Use learner details only to run your courses and support your learners.
- Your learners' records belong to your school and are kept separate from every other school.
- Learners with questions about your courses or their purchases should be able to reach you.
Pausing or closing a school
If a school breaks these terms, we'll tell the owner and give a chance to fix it whenever we can. For serious or repeated problems we may pause or close the school.
- You can export your records before a school is closed.
- You can stop using CourseForge at any time by cancelling your plan.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as CourseForge grows. If we make an important change, we'll email school owners before it takes effect.
- These terms are a plain-language summary, not legal advice.
